The Miss Chinese International Pageant 2010 was held at the TianJin Goldin Metropolitan Hotel in China on November 5th 2010. Carol Cheng, Derek Lee and Jun Liu (Tianjin TV representative) were invited as the Masters of Ceremony. Joe Ma, Sonija Kwok, and Kate Tsui were invited as a part of the jury.

Elisa Chan kicked off the show by singing the well known song You Raise Me Up (original by Westlife). The 24 contestants appeared wearing different fur evening dresses. The 24 contestants competed for the titles Winner, First Runner Up, Second Runner Up, Miss Friendship and Miss Oriental Charm Award, a total of five awards. The special guests were Xuan Liu, Leo Ku and Raymond Lam who all did a great live performance during the show. Eventually, it was No.19 Eliza Sam from Vancouver who won the title of Miss Chinese International 2010. Associated honors have been granted to the 1st runner up No. 07 Belle Theng (Malaysia), 2nd runner up No. 18 Candy Chang (Toronto), Miss Oriental Charm Award No. 07 Belle Theng (Malaysia) and Miss Friendship No. 05 Lu Bai (Foshan).

Our own European proud and representative Simwayn Tran ended as one of the top 12 finalists. Although she had not won any awards during the show, she did have the most internet votes on the official TVB website. The participation of Miss Chinese International Pageant 2010 has given Simwayn tons of memorable things and it also has enriched her life experience: “I have made a lot of new friends and was quite satisfied about my performance. If I could redo a session of the show, it would be the Q&A session during the bikini round.” Simwayn stayed in Hong Kong and China for one month. ”We were like one big family and took good care of each other’’, said Simwayn. “Unfortunately I didn’t end up in the top 3, but I tried all my best to represent my city and I think that’s the most important thing in a pageant. The winners did a great performance and they deserved to win. We are all very happy for them”.

It was the first time for Simwayn to visit Hong Kong and TianJin. ”All the people I’ve met during this journey were very friendly. It’s a pity that I didn’t have enough time to do some sightseeing in Hong Kong, but I’m sure that I will do it the next time when I visit Hong Kong again!” Regarding the weather change of Hong Kong TianJin she said: “I didn’t have much trouble to adapt to the weather in TianJin. The climate in TianJin is quite similar to Holland.” During her absence, she kept in touch with her family as much as possible by phone and webcam: ”They were aware of my schedules and all the things that I’ve seen. So for them it felt like as if I’ve never left Holland.” Just before Simwayn left Hong Kong, she got surprised by the TVB Management who approached her as a talent! Although both parties still need to discuss, we wish her all the best!

Simwayn sends her appreciations to Orientouch Entertainment, TVB-S Europe and all sponsors who had made this possible for her. She also thanks for all the support from her precious family, great friends and loyal fans.
